Impact report 2024-25
This Impact Report reflects an important milestone for Waterloo Uncovered, as 2025 represents for us more than a decade of world-class archaeology with meaningful wellbeing support for our veterans and serving military personnel. Our work continues to deepen an understanding of conflict while creating powerful opportunities for recovery, connection, and personal growth. We continued our excavation whilst expanding our reach beyond the battlefield, delivering accessible programmes in communities and online, and ensuring more users can engage with heritage in ways that support their individual journeys.
Throughout 2024–25, Waterloo Uncovered has demonstrated the strength of its model across the full cycle of archaeology. We bring together archaeological discovery, wellbeing support and lived military experience in a way that benefits all. From our archaeological dig at Mont-Saint-Jean to community-based finds programmes and accredited learning opportunities, beneficiaries have not only contributed to historical knowledge but also built confidence, skills, and lasting social connections. With improvements in wellbeing and growing engagement across our programmes, our work continues to show how exploring the past can have a transformative impact on the present.
The year has been a time of innovation, collaboration, and reflection. Supported by dedicated volunteers, partners, and donors, Waterloo Uncovered is well positioned to evolve its strategy and sustain its impact in the years ahead—continuing to uncover history while helping those who serve and have served to recover and rediscover new purpose.
