In this episode of Visiting Historians, Liam Fitzgerald interviews retired surgeon, curator and historian Mick Crumplin on the gruesome realities of battle wounds, military medicine and battlefield surgery during the Battle of Waterloo.

Mick is the curator of the Military Surgical Museum at Ferme de Mont-Saint-Jean, which served as Wellington’s field hospital during the battle, and was the focus of Waterloo Uncovered’s excavations in 2019.
