Veteran Support Programmes: Battlefields Uncovered

This programme, run in collaboration with Utrecht University, offers participants the chance to gain academic credits from an accredited university course held online.

Battlefields Uncovered is our virtual programme that supports veterans and serving personnel to learn new skills, acquire knowledge, and build lasting connections. The programme features engaging online lectures and seminars on history and archaeology, allowing beneficiaries to explore conflicts from the Battle of Waterloo to the present day.

No prior experience is needed, and all beneficiaries earn undergraduate academic credits through Utrecht University. Delivered over three months, the programme combines lectures and workshops taught by leading academics, with active wellbeing support. It fosters social connection, boosts confidence, and positions beneficiaries to find placements in museums and heritage organisations, or further develop their academic skills.

I have gained so much knowledge from my fellow students, particularly from the veteran community. The timing of this course could not have been better as it alleviated a lot of the feelings of isolation throughout the lockdown period. The team’s support throughout this course has been wonderful and I cannot thank them enough.”
